We are living an amazing epoch, but we do not know it yet… We are tossed about by a terribly complex international politic, happy are the ones that dare decipher it… We are terrified by the generalized barbarism that sends us back to our tribal inmost depths… We are shocked taking conscience of the fate we have thrown upon our own Earth… Drowned in the mass, we are searching for our individual identity… We are reorienting our humanity ! This is perhaps where our humanitarian action finds a true meaning…

Iraq, cradle of our civilization where is taking place, day after day, a horrifying barbarity provoked by men. Daily life in this tormented country is illogical, as death itself has no meaning. To help the Iraqi Kurds to find in them the reason to live, Mission Enfance is undertaking projects, always modest and reasonable, but close to the inhabitants, to their basic needs. We do not offer dream, but just professional training centres.

Colombia, where children are fighting against the extreme violence found in the street, in the family, among friends, by the octopus-like guerrilla or paramilitary movements. Mission Enfance does not promise Peace, but… peace havens. In our seven greeting centres in the heart of the shanty towns, life builds itself up too, in just a quarter of an hour of given attention and care…

Burkina Faso. Mission Enfance supports families of bush farmers to come back to what they are intrinsically, men of land, which respect it, make it fructify in order to pass it on to their children. Simple agricultural and educational actions, accessible to the population’s imagination are undertaken, which have no other vocation but to lead the people to food autonomy.

In the same way, in Vietnam, Laos, Siberia, Afghanistan, Lebanon, Armenia, Ethiopia and Sudan, humanitarian action is our mean to improve the life of those who are most threatened. Our educational programs pull men out of a fossilizing victimization, projecting their children in the future, giving them the capacity to take action and finally, bring our world back to its true value : the respect of some 6 billion children, women and men which live in it, which without you, dear donors, would have no hope !

President of Mission Enfance
